Reuse, Repair, Recycle

We’re really looking forward to running our first live event since the pandemic started – we’re putting it on in partnership with Strathmore Rd Ecochurch in Rowlands Gill and it’s a bit the same as the 5 Rs and a bit different. Please come along and check it out – there’s loads happening and loads of space to distance.

Saturday October 2nd. 12 .00 -3.30 p.m.

Strathmore Rd Church Hall, Rowlands Gill NE39 1HX (on corner on road going up to High Spen)

Free entry (donations welcome).

Reuse – bring unwanted useable clean items to put on the Bring-and-Take Table (then have a look for anything that you might like). If you don’t have anything to swap we take a donation. We’ll also have stalls from Green Heart collective with good quality clothes and from Gateshead West Pre-loved School Uniforms.  Anne from Groundwork will be showing how to create fun things out of plastic bottles.  Book Swap in the lobby.

Repair– FixIt Café will have a go at fixing anything! Bring your broken things and give them a new life. Maz is a magician.

Brassworks Bicycle Company  will be doing bike repairs up to the value of £25 and giving advice on bigger jobs.

Jane from Tiny Mends will help you learn simple clothing repairs.

Recycle –   Advice on  Composting from the Hop Garden (and make wild flower seed balls).

 Groundwork will advise on Household Waste and electrical recycling.

And moreDerwent Valley Car Club are bringing one of their nippy Nissan (electric) Leafs and info on how to join the club – coming soon to Rowlands Gill.

Pay as you feel  fair share café  (run buy the church)– Soup, cakes, Syrian delicacies. Plenty for vegetarians.

Tombola

Lots of friendly people to chat to about  TWiG and climate change and what you can do.

If you don’t need to come in a car we encourage everyone to walk, use public transport or bike. There is a small bike rack in the back car park. If you are coming on the bus it’s the X45, X 46, 47 or R3 or R4, nearest stop is before Tesco’s. 

You can also park in the main car park which is below the church (1st entry as you come up the hill). 

To keep us all safe, please don’t come if you or someone in your household has Covid-like symptoms. Covid precautions will be in place.
